Quick answer: There’s no dedicated QLD Government cash rebate for solar panels in 2026. The Battery Booster is closed. Active support now comes from the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program (~30% off eligible batteries), the new Supercharged Solar for Renters rebate, and the new Solar Sharer Offer (free electricity 11am–2pm in South East Queensland).

Is there still a QLD solar rebate in 2026?

There’s no dedicated Queensland Government cash rebate for solar panels in 2026. Instead, Queensland solar incentives now come from one closed state program, one active federal battery discount, one new landlord rebate, and one new free-power scheme launched this month. Here’s what’s live, what’s closed, and what applies to you.

The Federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program in Queensland?

This national scheme is now the main battery incentive available in Queensland. Under the Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program, eligible battery systems with a nominal capacity of 5–100 kWh may receive a discount of around 30% through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs).

What changed on 1 May 2026?

The Clean Energy Regulator confirms the STC factor now steps down roughly every six months (next changes each January and July to 2030), with the strongest discount applying to the first 50 kWh of usable capacity. Eligibility is unchanged. Only the discount value has, locked in on your installation date. See our Cheaper Home Battery Program update and Federal Solar Rebate vs Battery Incentive guides.

Supercharged Solar for Renters (for QLD landlords)

Status: Active, opened 12 December 2025.

The Queensland Government’s Supercharged Solar for Renters program gives eligible landlords up to $3,500 to install solar on rental properties, with applications assessed through QRIDA. It is expected to help around 6,500 households save approximately $700 per year, depending on location and system size.

Key requirements include:

  • Rent of $1,000 per week or less

  • An eligible tenancy agreement, tenant consent and body corporate approval where applicable

  • A minimum 3 kW system using CEC-approved products and SAA-accredited professionals

  • QRIDA conditional approval before purchase or installation

The rebate is the lower of the capacity-based amount or the eligible system cost, including GST. It is paid after installation, full payment and final approval.
